HSE Approved Emergency First Aid at Work - 3 day

Emergency First Aid at Work is a 3 day course, with an annual refresher and a 2 day re-qualification on year 3. This is in accordance with the new changes that were implemented by the HSE in October 2009. This course can only be offered by HSE approved training organisations, which serves to reassure you that the standard of training is adequate.

The course content is dictated by the HSE. Our courses exceed this minimum and include:

" the role of the first aider
" handling an emergency safely
" basic life support including cardiopulmonary resuscitation
" dealing with wounds or bleeding
" dealing with seizures and choking
" provision of appropriate first aid for minor injuries
" Introductory training with the automated defibrillator (AED)

All our first aid courses are taught by experienced, top class instructors who rely on high quality training aids, realistic casualty simulation and scenarios drawn from real-life, making the experience memorable and fun.

The Emergency First Aid at Work qualification lasts for 3 years.

HSE Approved Emergency First Aid Refresher - ½ Day

Type of Course: Updating of practical skills

The Health and Safety Executive strongly recommend an annual refresher to the Emergency First Aid at Work course.

Content:

" Recognise and care for an unconscious person
" Carry out basic chest compression only resuscitation
" Respond to a blocked airway (choking)
" Control bleeding and treat burns and fractures
" Recognise and carry out basic stabilisation of common medical conditions

Learning outcomes:

" Update Appointed Persons First Aid Certificate
" Revisit and update techniques in all of the topics that are taught on the 1-day course
" Be competent and qualified to conduct First Aid in the workplace
