Exmed Stirling ER (Emergency Responder) COURSES:

All ER (emergency responder) Courses are predominantly designed towards the oil and gas industry but can be utilised in other fields.

The course is underpinned by the First Person on Scene Qualification
(intermediate) and enables the individual to gain a recognised qualification by the IHCD (EDEXCEL).

ER 1
The ER one course is a five day course which is the basic level which allows the student to gain the required medical knowledge in basic first aid to a level that is required to work in the oil and gas industry. It also introduces the student to scene management and improvised vehicle extrication.
Course content covers:
Airway Management (use of Adjuncts).
Chest Injuries and management (including needle decompression).
Hemorrhage Control.
Disabilities (head injuries).
Environmental injuries.
Primary Survey.
Secondary Survey.
Use of AEDs.
Use of Oxygen.
Medical Emergencies.
Use of OTCs (over the counter medicines).
Improvised extrication.

ER 2
The emergency responder 2 focuses on gaining a certificate in the use and daily checks of hydraulic cutting equipment when dealing with road traffic collisions, it also confirms the medical skills gained in the ER1.
On completion of the course the students gains a Holmatro Cutting Certificate.

Course content covers:
Use and Maintenance of Hydraulic Cutting equipment.
Collapsed Structures.
Casualty Vehicle extrication'
Casualty centred rescue in remote areas.
Confirmation of medical knowledge from ER1.

ER Refresher course

The ER refresher is a course which is designed to confirm qualifications
acquired on the ER1 & 2.
It consists of two days medical refresher followed by 3 days of vehicle
cutting.
The three days are centred round various scenarios using the training
facilities to test the students.
On completion of all three courses the student will hold certificates in HSE FAW, Holmatro Cutting Equipment, O2 and AEDs and IHCD Fpos Intermediate.

The ER1 course has to be done before you can attend the ER2.

Anyone with a very basic knowledge of first aid can attend these courses.
